Controversy has emerged in Ukwa Federal Constituency following allegations that several projects attributed to the member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chris Nkwonta, were either inherited from his predecessor, poorly executed, or abandoned.
In a statement addressed to residents of the constituency, Kingsley Nna Okadigbo alleged that many of the projects being celebrated by the lawmaker, particularly water boreholes and solar street lights, were originally attracted through the Niger Delta Basin Development Authority under the 2023/2024 federal budget and not initiated by the current representative.
Okadigbo further questioned the quality and completion status of several projects, challenging Hon. Nkwonta and his media team to conduct live video inspections of facilities they claim have been completed across the constituency.
He particularly referenced the Police Secondary School project at Obeaku and the widely publicized Obeaku water project, insisting that the true condition of the facilities be made available to public perusal
The statement also called for a nighttime live broadcast of solar street light installations across the constituency to verify claims regarding their functionality and effectiveness.
According to Okadigbo, many of the borehole projects reportedly executed with substantial public funds are not operational. He claimed that several have failed to provide water to benefiting communities.
The critic subsequently issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the lawmaker and his team to provide evidence through live video demonstrations, maintaining that such action would either validate or refute the allegations.
Okadigbo’s statement further indicated that additional details regarding constituency projects allegedly linked to Hon. Nkwonta would be released in the coming days, including project locations, contract values, and assessments of their completion status.
