Ahead of the 2027 general elections and a significant demonstration of commitment to grassroots development and youth empowerment, Engr. Adinigwe Ugochukwu Nwoke has disbursed a total of ₦4 million to youths in Ipu West, Owaza, as part of efforts to tackle poverty and promote economic self-reliance.
The empowerment programme, held in Owaza, fulfilled a promise Engr. Adinigwe made after a delegation of Ipu West youths visited him seeking financial support to purchase kits for the annual Ekwe Festival. Rather than offering a one-time donation for the celebration, he opted for a broader empowerment initiative aimed at creating lasting economic impact.
Addressing beneficiaries, Engr. Adinigwe said he believes young people deserve opportunities that can transform their lives rather than temporary handouts.
“I believe our youths deserve more than handouts. An empowerment programme is meant to pull youths out of poverty and give them a better life,” he said.
He also assured the gathering that similar empowerment programmes would be extended to other communities across the Ukwa East and Ukwa West Federal Constituency in due course.
The event attracted traditional rulers from various communities in Owaza, reflecting the significance of the initiative and the widespread support it received.
Several dignitaries attended the programme, including the Abia State Commissioner for Environment, Philemon Asonye Ogbonna; the Mayor of Ukwa West Local Government Area, Pastor Dike Briggs Nwankwo, represented by his Director of Protocols, Sir Nkemakolam Jite; former Secretary to the State Government, Pastor Ralph Egbu; former Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ngozi Ulunwa; former PDP leader and chairman in Ukwa West, Hon. Ndubuisi Enyioko; Labour Party Chairman and former Commissioner for Petroleum, Chief Ikechukwu Eche; Chief Rogas Nwachinemere; Chief Ugo Nwoloki; Ndukuba Adiele and members of the Abia Arise Team; Edith Pamela Adiele; Sir Light Nwankwo; Hon. Austin Nwarie; Dr. Lucky Eleogu; Dr. Chimezie Enyioko; Barr. Ben Nwogbo, alongside numerous other political leaders and stakeholders.
The high point of the programme was the presentation of cash grants to beneficiaries by Engr. Adinigwe, with recipients expressing gratitude for what they described as a timely intervention capable of improving their livelihoods.
The empowerment initiative marks another milestone in Engr. Adinigwe’s sustained efforts to promote youth and women empowerment, economic inclusion, and community development across the Ukwa Federal Constituency.
