The Solidarity Movement, Ukwa West Chapter, has inaugurated the executives of its Ipu West Ward and adopted the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ukwa East/West Federal Constituency, Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu, Esq., as its preferred candidate in the 2027 National Assembly election.
The inauguration took place on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the compound of the late HRM Eze Mathew Chinemeze Nwamuo in Umuagalaba, Owaza, Ukwa West Local Government Area. Members of the movement from across the council area attended.
Addressing the gathering, the movement’s President, Hon. Innocent Chiuwa, charged the new executives to remain committed and step up grassroots mobilisation ahead of the polls.
“This movement has existed from 2015 to date. Let us be more committed so that we can secure victory in the 2027 general election,” he said.
Chiuwa announced that the movement had formally adopted Nwogu as its candidate for the House of Representatives seat.
“The Solidarity Movement has adopted Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu, Esq. as our candidate for the House of Representatives in 2027. Let us put our full force behind him to deliver victory,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of the women, the Ipu West Ward Women Leader, Mrs. Charity Chibuike, pledged their support and promised to mobilise more members and supporters at the grassroots.
The Ipu West Ward Coordinator, Prince Obirieze Alozie, thanked the movement’s leadership for its efforts toward victory in 2027. He recounted his experience in the 2023 general election, saying he was rejected after suffering a serious injury during the exercise.
“I had a very bad experience in the last election. I was rejected after I sustained a very bad injury,” he said.
Alozie vowed to take the movement to the grassroots and strengthen its presence in Ipu West Ward. He urged members to see the movement as a platform for active participation in politics and governance.
“This movement is formidable and reliable, we will do everything within our power to ensure that the people at the grassroots join the movement, those available here today should see it as an opportunity to participate actively in politics and governance” he concluded.
The ceremony ended with prayers and pledges of support from members of the movement in Ipu West Political Ward.
