The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its final list of candidates following the conclusion of its appeal process, confirming a major change in its lineup for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the list, the incumbent member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chris Nkwonta, will not be flying the party’s flag. Instead, the APC has nominated former Chairman of the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC), Chief Barr. Samuel Okezie, as its candidate for the federal legislative seat.
The development marks a significant shift in the party’s strategy for the constituency and has already generated widespread reactions among party members and political stakeholders, with campaigns expected to gather momentum as the 2027 elections draw closer.
