The media team of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election, Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu, has dismissed allegations that he sabotaged Asa candidates during the 2015 and 2019 House of Representatives elections, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Chief Sam Nwogu Media Team said an online publication alleging that the APC candidate played a role in undermining Asa candidates during the two election cycles was inaccurate and intended to tarnish his reputation.
The media team maintained that Chief Nwogu neither engaged in nor supported any form of sabotage against any Asa candidate in the 2015 and 2019 general elections, insisting that the allegations were completely unfounded.
According to the statement, Nwogu served as a political appointee under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration during the period and was only responsible for mobilising support and delivering his immediate political unit and ward for the party.
It explained that he had no authority or responsibility over electoral outcomes in other wards, polling units or constituencies, stressing that election activities were coordinated collectively by party leaders and appointees.
The statement further claimed that Chief Nwogu successfully delivered his polling unit and ward for the PDP in both elections in line with his assigned responsibilities and the party’s strategy.
Defending his record, the media team described Nwogu as a respected political leader with a track record in human capital development, youth empowerment and community advancement across the Ukwa Federal Constituency.
It urged the public, political stakeholders and residents of the constituency to disregard what it described as a misleading narrative from unidentified sources, warning that such claims could create unnecessary misunderstanding and distract from efforts aimed at promoting unity and development.
The media team also reaffirmed Chief Nwogu’s commitment to peace, equity, justice and fair representation of both Ndoki and Asa communities, adding that he would continue to pursue issue-based politics and constructive engagement as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
