The Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADC) has appointed Collins Osinachi Okah as the Community Liaison Officer (CLO) for its Obehie Area Office in Ukwa West Local Government Area, in a move aimed at strengthening community engagement and improving the implementation of development programmes in oil-producing communities.
The appointment, approved by the General Manager of ASOPADC, Ven. Joshua Onyeike, PhD, is part of the commission’s broader strategy to reinforce its operational framework and deepen collaboration with host communities across Abia State’s oil-producing areas.
As Community Liaison Officer, Okah will serve as the vital link between the commission and communities within the Obehie axis. His responsibilities include facilitating effective communication, promoting peaceful collaboration, coordinating community relations, and supporting the execution of ASOPADC’s developmental initiatives.
The commission believes the appointment will enhance grassroots participation in its programmes, improve service delivery, and strengthen the relationship between ASOPADC and critical stakeholders, including traditional rulers, youth organisations, women groups, and community leaders.
Stakeholders have welcomed the development, expressing confidence that Okah’s experience and familiarity with the area will contribute to greater cooperation between the commission and host communities while advancing ASOPADC’s mandate of driving sustainable development in Abia State’s oil-producing regions.
