The President of the Asa Liberation Movement (ALM), Hon. Emeka Adiele, has urged youths across Asa, Ukwa, Abia State and Nigeria to jettison selfish political interests and support candidates with proven character and credible blueprints ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Adiele made the call in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, August 23, 2026, stressing the need for responsible political engagement, meaningful consultation and issue-based participation ahead of the elections.
“I implore the youths of Asa, Ukwa, Abia and Nigeria at large to jettison selfish interests and direct their support towards candidates with proven character and blueprints that could contribute towards reviving our dying economy, and candidates whose blueprints capture human capital development, which has been the most challenging issue in our society today,” he said.
He said political consultations should go beyond individual ambitions and focus on identifying credible leaders, understanding the aspirations of the people, strengthening grassroots structures and promoting unity among stakeholders.
According to him, political leaders, traditional and community leaders, youths, women, professionals and other stakeholders should be given the opportunity to freely express their views and collectively determine the best political direction for their communities and the country.
Adiele maintained that the 2027 elections should not be reduced to a contest over who wins or loses, but should instead focus on the quality of leadership and policies capable of addressing critical challenges confronting the people, including insecurity, unemployment, poor infrastructure, education, healthcare and economic development.
The ALM president further disclosed that the organisation would, in the coming weeks, issue what he described as an unbiased statement aimed at providing clearer direction for progressive-minded youths.
“As the President of Asa Liberation Movement (ALM), the foremost pressure group in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, I have the firm belief that our unbiased statement in the coming weeks would give a clearer direction to the progressive-minded youths,” he stated.
He called for dialogue, strategic thinking and responsible political engagement among stakeholders, urging them to place the collective interest above personal ambitions and work towards what he described as “revolutionary campaign activities for a prosperous future.”
Adiele’s position comes as political activities and consultations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with stakeholders across communities increasingly engaging in discussions over candidates, leadership and the development priorities of the people.
