Ukwa-born diasporan, Elder Victor K.N. who
goes by the popular name “Osinanwata 1″ has lamented on the outright marginalisation of the Ukwa people, the goose that lays the golden egg in Governor Alex Chioma Otti’s administration, he made this lamentation citing numerous projects initiated which some of which have been executed in the Abia North section of the State leaving the Ukwa counterparts with meagre projects.
He said, We only receive Maintenance of 5.1 kilometres of Obehie-Umudobia-Owaza road without streetlights and dual carriage drainage. Land grabbing in the name of AIIP shenanigans and the displacement of Asopadec’s right of existence.”

“ABIA NORTH, the real owners of New Abia”
A few months ago, Governor Alex Otti approved the creation of GODA (Greater Ohafia Development Authority), funded them, and allowed them to go into the nooks and crannies of Ohafia local government and enhance development.
An agency in less than a year has embarked on over 12 road projects and basic infrastructure, funded by the Abia state government. There is also a decision that GODA will do all her projects with local contractors and direct labour. This is an avenue to create massive job opportunities and increase revenue and the economy in this region.
Just last month, the government mandated that the 46-kilometre Abiriba ring road be asphalted and commissioned before December 2025. In Arochukwu alone, over 5 local and foreign contractors are on site doing road and bridge projects, including our historic Omenuko bridge. In isiukwuato work is ongoing in different areas. Gov. Otti has turned Abia North into a construction site in 2 years.
*What do we get in Ukwa*?
Maintenance of 5.1 kilometres of Obehie-Umudobia-Owaza road without streetlights and dual carriage drainage. Land grabbing in the name of AIIP shenanigans and the displacement of Asopadec’s right of existence.
In the former administration, you could see government officials a bit healthier and better, at least sharing the funds amongst themselves and their aides. But in this current show of abracadabra, both the government appointees and the constituents are looking for help.
Even the NDDC, which should come to our rescue, Chief Eruba Dimgba runs to Abia North to do mega projects that are not situated in Ukwa, very high-quality roads with mega facilities, all in the name of maintaining the office. Who did we offend?
Dee Goody, who is supposed to at least speak for us in the house and move motions for Greater Ukwa Development Agency (GUDA), appears politically barren, snapping pictures with LP members during the Day and attending PDP meetings at night. I even heard he can’t travel Home now, the flood has covered the entrance of his compound.
Our people who went to meet the governor only came back with empty articles and coursework instead of good news of hope. Empty articles without a single promise from the Governor.
Ven. Onyeike, whom we had hopes on as a neutral person and a man in cloth who can move mountains, only saw the sweetness of power and is preparing to move for the ticket of the House of Representatives, playing whatever card Gov. Otti brings to the table instead of breaking ground with the new oil derivative funds uplift.
The local government chairmen who have the main responsibility for the grassroots, Story! Story!! Story!!!
Sir Don Ubani, our great writer and activist, is shut down by Chris Nkwonta’s poor performance and has decided to drop his pen because he knows that any stone he throws will return to him x 10.
*When are we going to be politically active in this state*?
Over time, we have been faced with cowards as leaders who only care about their stomachs instead of the needs of the people. Are we really not part of this state? Or is our existence not appreciated in this New Abia Breaking Dance???
We are indeed in a very sorry Situation.
Elder Victor KN
Osinanwata 1 of the Owaza Ancient Kingdom.
