A man whose admission misfortune led him from Nursing Science to Human Anatomy at Abia State University graduated as the Departmental Best Student, benefiting from Governor Otti’s Job and Scholarship declaration during his speech at the University’s Convocation ceremony on 27th March 2026.
It was gathered that Mr Bright Ogbonna, who initially gained admission to study Nursing Science at Abia State University in 2015, only to discover in his penultimate year (400-Level) that his admission was fraudulent baggd First-Class Honours announcing him as the Human Anatomy Best Graduating Student.
In light of this, Mr Obioma Daniel, speaking to our correspondent, narrated that Mr Bright Ogbonna summoned courage after four wasted years to sit for another UTME examination, which earned him admission to study Human Anatomy, where he finished as the Departmental Best Student with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.52 (First Class Honours).
Obioma said, “Yesterday was one of the happiest days of my life, not just because of a result, but because of a journey. A journey that proves that a common man can truly become something extraordinary.”
“In 2015, my brother, Bright Ogbonna, and I gained admission to Abia State University to study Nursing. Like every young student, he was full of dreams, hope, and that excitement of finally stepping into the future he had imagined. Years went by, he studied hard, moved with his classmates, and believed he was on the right path. Then, in his fourth year, everything came crashing down. He discovered that the admission he had relied on for years was fake,” Obioma lamented.
Obioma disclosed that Mr Bright, gathered courage, picked himself up from that devastating setback, and made a bold decision to start all over again and was re-admitted to study Human Anatomy at Abia State University and today he has finished with First-Class Honours.
“Through sleepless nights, silent struggles, and determination that words can’t fully describe, he pushed forward. He fought for his place. He refused to let his story end in disappointment. That same young man who once didn’t know where he stood has graduated as the best in Human Anatomy with an outstanding CGPA of 4.52.”

By the grace of God and the recognition of His Excellency, he is set to become a Graduate Assistant Lecturer immediately after his youth service, as pronounced by Governor Alex Otti at the State University’s 30th-32nd Convocation ceremony.
