A prominent organisation named the New Ukwa Progressive Initiative (NUPI) has expressed its support for Mr Innocent Chiuwa, who was detained by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in relation to the alleged twenty million naira (20,000.000) vote of confidence passed on Chief Eruba Dimgba, the Abia State Representative on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The group commended their Chairman, Dr Franklin. E Akanwa and Secretary Mr Felix Chidubem Ambition, including other members, particularly for their vocal stance and their solidarity efforts to ensure that Mr Chiuwa received a fair hearing and was released from police custody. Furthermore, extended its appreciation to Engr. Adinigwe Ugochukwu Nwoke, Hon. Goddy Adiele, and other supporters whose contributions facilitated resolutions to the issue.
The group issued a caution to political contenders in Ukwa, whose tactics include intimidating individuals who do not share their political views, rather than being responsible for governance aimed at delivering the dividends of democracy to the populace, advising members of the Ukwa community to cease from any acts of defamation and cyberstalking directed at leaders, to prevent hostility and discord.
They, however, encouraged the good people of Ukwa to be of good behaviour, respect constituted authorities, but to resist intimidation of any kind targeted at silencing the voices of opposition and governance advocates, and to criticise leaders with verifiable facts to avert political rift and legal litigation.
