Hopealivemedia.com.ng has gathered that the wife of the Ukwa LGA Chairman Mrs. Favour Akara has commenced the Measles-Rebulla Vaccination Awareness Campaign in the Local Government Council. According to Comrade Justice Enyinnaya Nwaubani the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman of Ukwa East Local Government who made this known to our correspondence, stated Mrs Akara’s commitment towards community health service delivery.
Speaking at the event, the wife of the Executive Chairman emphasised the importance of the campaign, urging parents, guardians, teachers, and traditional leaders from various communities to ensure eligible children are vaccinated. She announced that the vaccines would be available at Primary Health Centres across the state.
Mrs Akara further noted that Measles-Rubella poses a serious public health threat and stressed the need for active participation to ensure every eligible child receives the vaccine. She encouraged the spread of awareness about the Measles-Rubella vaccine to communities and the grassroots.
Concluding, the Chairman’s wife expressed her gratitude to Her Excellency, Mrs Priscilla C. Otti, the wife of the Governor of Abia State, for her continued support in immunisation campaigns across the state, working to ensure no eligible child is left behind or unimmunized.
In his speech, the Executive Chairman of Ukwa East Local Government Area, Hon. Chibunna Akara, in synergy with his amiable wife, Mrs Favour Akara, joined the Ukwa East Health Authority to commence a Measles-Rubella immunisation awareness campaign across all communities in Ukwa East Local Government Area. The initiative he classified as the government’s commitment to the health and safety of children in Ukwa East.
Addressing the gathering, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Chibunna Akara, thanked the traditional leaders, religious leaders, and school teachers for attending the campaign at the Local Government Council Hall in Akwete. He briefly spoke regarding the forthcoming Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign, scheduled to commence in February 2026, for eligible children aged 9 months to 14 years. He urged teachers thelp disseminateng information anensure thatng every parent and guardian is informed. He highlighted the importance of vaccination and encouraged teachers to play their roles in ensuring every eligible child receives the Measles-Rubella vaccine, leaving no child unimmunized for any reason. He reaffirmed that his administration is committed to the health and well-being of every Ukwa East resident, including children, who are said to be a gift from God.
The Ukwa East Health Authority Secretary, Mr Akpara, thanked all participants for recognising the need to be part of the campaign. He concluded by specially thanking the Executive Chairman of Ukwa East, addressing him as a health-friendly Chairman for his continued support and encouragement whenever he is called upon.
